Over forty years ago two men of vision, Mr. Shinder and Mr. Ellis, decided to turn an ancient and decrepit building in Perrins Court into a new kind of department store. Much faith and imagination and hard work were needed before the dream materialised.
In July 1967 the 'Hampstead Antique Emporium' opened.
The variety of goods on offer is extraordinarily wide:
Today the Emporium is still going strong, and over the years shops have opened in the Courtyard. Also, crafts have been added to the antiques.
New customers, finding us by chance, have been heard to say:
"This must be the best kept secret in Hampstead..."

For over 40 years the Emporium has been a popular destination for those in search of antique and vintage treasures from the 18th Century to the present. But how many locals realise that Hampstead is home to one of London's last remaining indoor markets? The Emporium is tucked behind one of Hampstead's most picturesque turnings, just off Heath Street and Perrins Court. The dealers here are knowledgeable and friendly which makes a visit to the Emporium an interesting and welcoming experience.
